Communicating seems to be the best way I work through book ideas and plot issues.
Nothing gets my creative writing juices going quite as much as when I can talk about what I am writing and my ideas about the little things that make a book great to me. I even love the side tangents that come up before you can bring it back to the original topic. So learning this about myself I decided to start a chat every week of October to chat with people about the project I am working on for National Noval Writing Month.
How am I doing this chat?
I started a Discord server. What is Discord? Discord is a chat application that uses both voice and typed chat rooms that the owner of a server sets up. You can also share your screen and I might do that for some of the fans so they can see me write.
Why would you want to chat with an author?
Well, you never know what you can learn or when your idea might help inspire and author when it comes to their current work in progress. The Myth of the lonely author is total bs. We get inspiration in so many ways. Friends and their drama. Overheard conversations at the coffee shop or in the waiting room. Often some great stuff comes from talking about books, movies, and childhood stories late at night with friends.
If your an author how do you get inspiration?
I hope to see you all on Discord if you would like to take part in the chats every Wed. this October please head over here and fill out the invitation. You will receive a link to my Discord server. Talk to you soon.
