Guest Author Brandy-The Unorganized Author

When November 1, 2021, came around, I was ready to start strongly with a rough outline and an idea for a book that I would publish as my first book for sale. Kiss Me at Midnight was inspired by my love for reverse harem novels and romance novels.

While I have never been in such a relationship, I knew I needed to do plenty of research on the inner workings of such an extraordinary type relationship dynamic. I started with books of the same type. I picked up and read every reverse harem novel I could get my hands on.

Then I researched the proper plot points readers expect to see in romance novels. It wasn’t easy at first to figure out how to meld all my ideas together in a cohesive pattern. That is where NaNoWriMo comes into the story.

My plot, outline, notes, and brainstorms gave me a starting place to write a 50,000 word rough draft. I knew it would mean lots of long days of writing and stressing out over word counts, but I knew that this was the story I wanted to tell and share with readers.

The first week went amazing. I was above par for word counts and I couldn’t get them out fast enough. Topped with a virtual writing retreat, it is safe to say I was close to burning myself out within that first week and I had to take a couple of days with smaller counts to keep from burning totally out.

I am sure at this point you are wondering ok, so you are writing all these words, but what is the story? Well, I don’t want to spoil it for you. But I will share a bit.

Jo Marshall has lived her entire life in a family of four parents, her mom and her three dads. She never considered that it was wrong to have this type of relationship. She also knew that she could go out and have any healthy dynamic that suited her life when she got older.

What she didn’t count on was that the friends she grew up with would be the men that she would fall in love with in college. This relationship would test both the bonds of friendship and the bonds of brotherhood.

Dexter and Alex Bennett had grown up across the street and spent many days together playing, growing and becoming best friends with Jo and Marci (Jo’s Best Friend). As adults, they realized they loved Jo as more than just a friend, and both brothers wanted her. They will test this bond breaking relationship to see if love was the greatest bond people could forge with each other.

A bit about Brandy -The Unorganized Writer:

She started writing when she was in her early teens, mostly poems and short stories she shared with family and friends. She stopped writing until she was well into adulthood. She lives in the Midwest of the United States with her family, and a dozen (yes 12), cats.

This will be her first published work, and she has plans to release two more in the series not long after the release of Kiss Me at Midnight. You can find some of her short stories or teasers on her social media or in her newsletter (when she finally gets it to work correctly).

Brandy prefers to work with her writing community and supports not only groups on Facebook, but on Instagram and in Discord. There is no better place to be than on the wings of friends.

Along with her writing, she plans to host workshops for writers in the future and is also in collaboration with SACrow in a Writing Buddy program - On the Wings of Friends. Where they will help pair writers up with each other for support, accountability and friendship.
