I wanted to share a few things that make me happy as I write my new contemporary romance novella Into the Fire. I am sure this list will change as I find new apps and websites on my journey.
1) My morning writing routine especially my shower meditation.
I like to treat my writing like a 9 to 5 job, which means getting ready every morning. In the shower I like to meditate about the possibilities available for the day. I also start to picture in my mind the scenes I will be working on that day. I have even work on dialog while in the shower.
2)Google Docs.
I have been using Google Docs for years. I love the ability to organize my work and share jobs with my editors. Currently I am saving each chapter as its own document. By doing this it is easier to search the text for a reference and much easier for my editors to edit the book.
3) Google Slides
This is Google's version of Power Point. I use Slides as a way to a visual outline of the book. I have the original outline the Slides version is for things that actually made it in the book. Each slide is a chapter. In the notes section for each chapter, I insert background information attached to the chapter.
4) Google Sheets
I use Google's Sheets to keep tract of my word count daily and where I am in regards to my word goal for the book. The graph on the side helps me see in where my chapters average out.
5) My writing space.
I love that my writing space is minimalist. I only have what I need to work and information close to hand. I shared a photo of my desk on my social media this week. Follow me to see more of the process.
I hope you all enjoyed the glimpse into what currently makes me a happy writer. Remember anything is possible if you work at it.
