Have you ever measured your year in the books you have read? Goodreads gives you the chance to see what your year was like in books. If you click on your profile and a button on the side you will find a link to your year in books.
This year I have:
Read 12,897 pages across 41 books not counting the two I am currently reading.
The Shortest Book I read this year was The Purloined Letter by Edgar Allan Poe. I wanted to read something by him that I had been meaning to read.
The Longest Book I read was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling. I return to this series at least every year, it may only be one or two books in the series but it has become a longtime friend.
The Most Popular book I read this year is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins another series I seem to return to. The Least Popular book was Fund Your Book by Jacqui Pretty. I recommend this book I got some great ideas from this little book I found discarded on the library shelf.
My first book review of the year was for Christine Nolfi’s Sweet Lake see the link for that review. I love this series and I can’t wait to read the third book as soon as possible. My last review of the year so far was Black Orchid a graphic novel by Neil Gaiman and it is as strange as you think it might be.
Currently, I am reading two books and hope to have them finished by the end of the year these are:
My year has not only been measured in the pages of other authors but my own pages of text and characters. I accomplished some amazing things in writing. I revised my first book and along the way developed a new way to revise. That helped me see what was on the page and not what I thought was there.
I started my first beta read ever and the first time I moved a book to this stage. I found a way to use Facebook groups and Google Docs to create a beta read project that virtually ran itself. I am in talks with my local library to do workshops on how others can do this process. I also have plans to offer it to the wider world as a online course.
I took part in my first NANOWRIMO event and won Camp NANOWRIMO in July.
I wrote 37701 words on book 2. I finished the book by the end of August and prepared it for Beta readers by the end of November. My beta readers started reading book 2 at the start of this month and they say they are enjoying the book.
Book 1 is currently in line edit and I am raising money for the books final editor. I hope that you had an awesome year in books, I know that I have.
