I stepped in another pot hole on my travels in freelance writing this week. One thing I have learned is that no matter how good of a writer you are you can't please every client. I worked on a product review article this week, these aren't hard assignments and I often can pop them out quite quickly. I made sure to read the requirements of the client and got to work on my review and submitted it in under an hour. I felt good about it the article and went on to do other work not giving it much thought. That is until I was informed that the client needed a revision.
I am happy to say in the 16 articles I have written with my time with Hire writers this is my 2nd revision request. So I took a look at the notes the client gave me and talked to my in house editor. We both took a look and fixed what we assumed the client wanted fixed, resent the article, and went about our way. Happily a few hours later I received notice that my article was accepted and that I had a private job request. Private job requests make me very happy so I quickly checked the site.
Sadly it wasn't a happy event. The client had accepted my article and paid me but was still unhappy with a part of the article and asked for it to be changed with a private job request. Now my in house editor is upset on my behalf and we look over their notes. We are flabbergasted it sounds like they want me to change a section back to a way it was the first time I submitted the piece. As the grumbling behind me increases I pull up the email and start my letter.
"I am sorry you are unhappy with parts of the article I submitted. But do to a lack of clear instructions to rectify the issue I will be declining your request for a private job to fix the article. I stand behind my work.
Thank you and have a good day."
On to better news. I started a local writing group in my local area. It is a 5 minute writing workshop format and we are meeting at local coffee shops every week. I am so looking forward to creative writing as a change of pace. I hope to share some of my writing with you all here.
